Belkin High Speed Laptop Docking Station Review

This product is not perfect. The docking station works if I boot the computer with the docking station plugged in. If you unplug the docking station and then plug it back in, it does not seem to work(monitor does not work). So you have to reboot the computer if you want the docking station to work 100%. I tried a few other products and this one seems to work the best. I tried the Toshiba docking station and I thought that product was terrible.

Not even for free.... - middlevue - Denver
One of the worst experiences I've had with a product. I've had the damn thing for over a year and only made the mouse and keyboard work. Belkin support is unfamiliar with the product and have only suggested uninstall and reinstall as a solution. Vista itself is no box of chocolates, but this is just plain awful.



Doesn't work with windows 7 yet - J. R. Drolet -
Has anyone gotten it to work on Windows 7? They said they would be updating the drivers. I haven't tried it in XP mode on 7. Comment on this if you know ho to do it please! It's a pretty device though.

Although I did see a lot of negative feedback posted for this product, I thought I'd give it a shot anyway since it really seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Setting up the product was a sinch. The directions were very straight forward and everything installed and worked as expected. I had plugged into the unit a monitor, speakers, ethernet, and a couple of additional USB devices. Again, everything worked just fine. What disappointed me was the video quality, it was very poor. I had the docking station hooked up to my Alienware M15x laptop. As you may or may not know, this is a gaming system with fantastic graphics. When running the monitor through the docking station, the graphics were well below average so this didn't fly with me. Otherwise, everything else was fine.

If you're not worried about video quality, then I'd recommend you give it a try.

i got this alarm clock for my iphone since it's pictured on the amazon listing AND the box it came in.
it does NOT work with iphone, you cannot play music with your iphone because the radio waves and the phone waves interfere and create an irritating, high-pitched static noise.

I purchased this item so I could play my ipod at work. I wanted something inexpensive because the office cleaning crew is known for stealing items. The sound quality wasn't great but I was happy just to play my music. After 20 days, it no longer works. Don't waste your money.

I'm generally giving 3 stars since my review is more of an FYI as opposed to either critical or praising. I'm sure this is a good unit especially for the price IF you're not using it for an IPhone.

Bottom line is don't get this for use with an IPhone. As another reviewer has pointed out, there is some type of interference that causes the alarm clock to squawk periodically (every 5 to 10 minutes). Obviously that's not acceptable for something next to your head while sleeping. I tried turning off wifi, 3g, and bluetooth w/ no improvement. I didn't turn off the phone connectivity since bottom line is I want it to ring if someone calls. Maybe it would work if you go completely into airplane mode but that's not the product I'm looking for.

Great price, poor quality head unit - Jonathon L. Tolbert - Spokane, WA USA
Lets start with the install. This head unit does not come with 2 subwoofer outs, only 1. So this means you have to buy an RCA Y adapter and you get to have lower quality sound from your subs. Next is the features of the head unit. This unit does not have an equalizer so good luck making your sound system sound good. The memory card reader in this unit is bottom of the line quality. The head unit will screw up alot of the songs in your library. I didn't know that a memory card can skip but this head unit makes it possible. This head unit didn't even last a week before i put my old one back in. Nice try BOSS. You still suck. I do not recommend this head unit to anyone that wants quality sound. I recommend going with JVC.



Boss 765DBI -- Big disappointment - D. Brown -
As described on the website, this receiver looked perfect for my needs: built in bluetooth compatible with my iPhone, and a hidden iPod connection, which means no ugly wires dangling from the front of my dashboard to hook up my tunes. iPod is controllable from the front panel -- also what I wanted. Great that it had a radio, but I like to listen to the iPod and make/receive phone calls; no need for a CD player (which this unit does not have).

Unfortunately, the iPod interface is really pretty awful. I have hundreds of albums on my iPod, and there is no way to search through them other than alphabetically, and that requires turning the knob on the front of the unit. No acceleration to get you there faster. Can't search by composer, (although you can search by playlist, genre, artist, album or song) which would have been nice as I am a classical music fan. The WORST feature, however, is that the unit drops the first second of every track as it starts playing, which is totally unacceptable. I've packaged it back up and am returning it.

Oh, and the display is unbelievably coarse-- looks like maybe 100 pixels on the whole thing; the result is blocky letters reminiscent of early 80's electronics. Not worthy of the 0 pricetag.

I received this item as a birthday present from my son. It's not the one I wanted but it does everything that I wanted it for. I didn't expect the speakers to be separate, the other one I was looking at was one piece, but it's fine. I checked it out at home, needed some help from my son figuring things out, even after reading the instructions. Took it to work the next day and found out I had to set the preset stations again, it doesn't keep it in memory, but not a big deal. I like having the remote to quickly switch stations when I want, and when I get tired of the radio I can pop in my iTouch or a CD. Sound quality is good and no problems so far. :)

Don't buy this. Pay a little extra and buy a reputable brand. The one I received was defective and I had to PAY for return postage,so I paid almost 1/4 of the cost for something I no longer have. The cd player would play, then STOP, then play, then STOP.

Breaks down fast - Miss JJ -
The unit worked well for approximately a year. First sign of trouble was when the back-up battery would drain even when the unit was continuously plugged in. Next, the clock began to run slow. I had to reset it every couple of weeks when I noticed I was starting to be late for work. Next, when I would try to fix the time or set the alarm, the numbers would go all over the place. Not in order, they would jump ahead or jump back even when spinning the wheel the same direction. Lastly the connection between the iPod and the system became corrupted. The speakers would be staticy and I would have to wedge a piece of paper or something between the iPod and the unit to get a connection that would hold. Eventually, I couldn't find any position that would get the iPod and the unit to connect anymore. When it was time to replace it, guess what? I didn't blow 0 on another unit. I bought a competitor for . So far, I like it better. Don't waste your money.



OK, but short lifespan - Jonathan G. David -
I received two of these as gifts. Each one lasted only about 1.5 years of use as an alarm clock before the buttons died. On one, the power button doesn't work at all so I have to unplug it to turn it off. On the other, the alarm setting buttons are inaccurate and alter different settings than intended. This clock is OK for short life (dorm, etc) but don't count on it to last.

I have had my IHome clock radio for about 2 years. Mine charges fine and it is nice to wake to my ipod, but it is such a pain to set the alarm clock. The dial on it quit working with in the first year I had it. You can turn the dial, but the time on the clock will go up or down, you never know. It is a major pain! I rarely change my alarm time b/c it drives me crazy. I called iHome and they said I could pay to send it back to them, pay them to fix it, but they would pay to send it back to me. How generous!! NOT! Don't waste your money!

Purchased for my daughter 8 months ago. Worked fine now speakers produce basically no sound. Unfortunately only came with a 3 month warranty. Company wants me to pay approx. 1/2 the original purchase price and ship to them to see if can be fixed.

iHome iH16 Portable Speaker System for iPod (Lilac) Review

I know that this makes me a little behind the times, but I just recently got an iPod and am new to all iPod "things". I was frustrated by the fact that I had to plug my iPod Nano into my (slow)computer each time I wanted to charge it....which is every few days since I use it constantly! So, when my alarm clock started acting funny and inconsistant, I thought to look for a new one that would work with my iPod, not even knowing that it was possible for a charger/alarm clock combo. I love this product because if fulfills two of my needs, is very tiny, has decent sound quality, is very basic and easy to use and is inexpensive. I read LOTS of reviews on Amazon and while I found cheaper items that do basically the same thing...the reviews were terrible. I think this is a good balance of value and quality. I'm sure that there are better, more expensive, higher sound quality items out there, but I didn't need that - I use it to charge and wake me up to the tune of my choice every day. It's super convenient - definitely recommend it.

Good sound, annoying function - Chris Fitch -
I've been using this product for about a month now. The sound for its size is great though it has some issues with its design that I don't care for. When you plug your iPod it the speakers aren't automaticly turned on, you have to press the ipod button on the front. When you do that it automaticly starts playing music for whatever was played last. I primarily use this for playing ambient music so every time I plug it in I have to turn of the music it starts then start up the 3rd party program. Also if you don't play music right away the speakers will automaticly turn off, then you you turn them on again it starts playing the last thing played.

When using the alarm you can set only 1 time, I which you could set 2. When the set time arives it starts playing music, thats fine. However if you turn it off right after it starts about 30 seconds later a buzzer will start to go off. Also if you use the ipods built in alarm it seems to make a strange sound as if its shorting out, and the ipod set alarm wont play through the speakers since the speakers turn off after a small amount of time.

Summary: To me if the iPod is plugged the speakers should automaticly be on and every sound the ipod makes should play through them. The play button should be seperate from turning the speakers on.



Pretty but small part falls off - abm -
This product works fine and answers my need. However, there is a small "adapter" for my ipod that fits in where you plug it in. It fits fine when the ipod is plugged in, but is loose when it is just sitting there. I'm pretty sure that will be missing soon.(I have grandchildren and anything loose is fair game.) If it would "click" in and stay, I think it would be fine.

My iH16 arrived yesterday and it works just as well as I expected. Rather than docking my iPod touch 4G, I got a 3.5mm/3.5mm cable to connect the two. That way there's no risk of damaging the iPod or the dock. The sound is acceptable and I am very pleased.

I bought this alarm clock 2 years ago in Best Buy. To this day I haven't had any issues. I use a 2nd gen Nano with it. I really like how you can set the song you want to wake up to. It's quality, small, looks very nice on my dresser, and is very portable. It has the size and weight of a big hardback novel, still small enough for an overnight bag. I often take it with me when I travel. My fiance and I love having our music with us whereever we go, and this product enables us to have an earbud-free way to listen to it in it our hotel rooms, on the beach, etc. The volume gets pretty loud and backup battery has never died on me, even after hours by the poolside. It doesnt come with the remote, but I bought it for and I'm glad I did. I can clean my room and skip through songs with ease. The only thing I wish it had was a radio - which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars. Now the iHome line has these with radios, but they didnt when I bought this. BTW, the picture shows the speakers in the "up" position, but they can also be folded down so the speaker lies flat. (cool) Unlike some other reviewers, I saw what I was buying in the store, so I knew the weight and look of the object beforehand and I love it!

The iH27 lets you wake to your docked iPod (or the buzzer alarm for you masochists). A gradual alarm feature gently raises the alarm volume, so as not to jar you out of sleep. You can also dim the display, with high, medium, low, and off settings.

The iH27 also has a sure alarm feature so the buzzer alarm will still sound in the event of power failure, if backup battery is installed.

And of course, there's a snooze button for grabbing a few more minutes of slumber and a sleep mode for falling asleep to your favorite tunes or podcasts.

Auxiliary Input and A/V Output

I recently went to Target to look for a portable speaker that allows you to play music from any source. This one happened to attract me towards it because of its design and of course the sound. I love the fact that it can fold flat when your traveling. The only con that i have about this system is the bass it lacks. Other than that, its a good product to buy.



Almost caught fire - Michael R. Donley -
I have a iH27Br and it got very hot and smelled like it was on fire. My wife walked into the the room at the time and unpluged it. It felt like it was going to explode into fire.The batteries were stuck in it. I got them out and tested them and they were Ok. I had a nano4 pluged in it at the time and it still works. The speakers had stopped working about 3 months earlier. I was still using it to charge my ipod. Up until the speakers stopped working and it almost caught fire I liked it.

I have enjoyed previous iHome products, but I am not happy about this one. I got this one because it was one of the only alarm clocks that had an aux/out port which is important for iPod touch users. The problem is that the alarm will use the iPod if it is plugged in and not the buzzer. The buzzer will go off if there is not iPod charging (good luck if you just wanted to charge your iPod overnight.) There is no way to tell it to always use the buzzer when you have an ipod on the charger. I will never buy a iHome product again because of this, I have wasted too much money on them.

There are no 3rd party accessories yet made to go with the newest iPhone, so I was nervous buying this but thought it might work since OS4.0 support was mentioned. Good news! It works! The docking cradle is round to the iPhone 4's square, so you have to push it in a little harder, but it plays and charges as advertised.

The look is like the iphone - silver and black glass - very sleek and sexy and thin from front to back. I keep it on the dimmest setting and it doesn't bother be at night - the brightest setting is like day-glo!

The sound quality, for a clock radio, is very good - not Bose or anything, but I've got no complaints. And it can get LOUD! The FM tuner picks up the signal well - I didn't even have to unwind the antenna!

My only complaint is that the buttons are all close together and similar looking, so there's definitely a learning curve and it's not great for operating blind. A remote would've been nice, but at least you get external ipod controls!

Overall I'm very happy with this clock radio and felt it was a very good value for the price.

At first it took a while to figure out how to set the alarms, etc. But after that, no problem. Now more often than not it does not recognize the iphone when it is docked. Sometimes the speakers work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the alarm works when the iphone is docked, sometimes it doesn't. It is unreliable enough that I can't trust it on work days.



It just works! Even with iPhone 4 - S. Brown -
Have had this Phillips product for almost a year and was delighted to find that it works with my new iPhone 4 with the snap on case provided by Apple. Also, I can use it in landscape mode to view videos by just rotating the whole "speaker system". I've used the alarm just a couple of times and it is very stealthy, takes about four minutes to realize that it is beeping and that the beeping is not coming from somewhere else in the house! This is the only accessory I had for the older iPhones and iPods that will charge the new iPhone. Not wonder the price went up from the I paid in November of last year. Amazon Prime rocks!

The Bad:

no battery backup
power supply falls out of the clock/dock
doesn't always register when my iphone is docked and therefore sometimes plays music through the speakers but most of the time it is just the phones speakers
